About Elaine

I started in healthcare over 29 years ago.

In 2003, I started my training in psychiatric nursing undertaking an Honours Degree. From there I continued training in Psychosocial Interventions, Post Grad in Community Mental Health Nursing, H-Dip in Behaviours that Challenge, Phlebotomy, Registered Nurse Prescribing, Masters in advanced Nurse Practice and EMDR therapist trained by Dr. Michael Paterson OBE.

Qualified EMDR Group-Traumatic Episode Protocal (G-TEP) & EMDR Recent-Traumatic Episode Protocal (R-TEP)

I believed the more information and experience I could obtain the better service I could provide.

I have worked over the last eleven years in psychiatry.

These posts have been within Supervised Residential Units, Inpatient Service, Community Rehab and Recovery, liaison Psychiatry in Sligo University Hospital, in the community as a Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Nurse Specialist and for the last 6 months in the Mental Health Commission as an Assistant Inspector.

I believe mental health issues can be resolved utilising conventional medicine in conjunction with alternative medicine. EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation as an affective approach to treat traumas. EMDR has also been recognised to treat many other mental health issues including depression, anxiety and phobias.

I offer a private, non-judgemental, warm therapeutic environment where your journey of recovery can begin. In this therapy we will together develop skills enabling you to challenge those thought processes that have impeded on your life in a negative way and from there you will gain new insight and understandings of your experiences which have brought you to me.
